Miami Book Fair

This weekend was an eventful one in Miami, Florida. Besides the Heat playing against the Lakers, the Miami Book Fair was in town! I was especially excited for this Book Fair because one of my favorite authors was going to be present! This author introduced me to the magical world that she had crested in her first book, and I had already put in my preorder on Amazon to get whisked away in Book 2.


The Miami Book Fair takes place in Downtown Miami, tucked away behind the Miami Dade College and across the street from the American Airlines Arena. It was hectic to find parking since the Heat were playing at around the same time as we were arriving for the Book Fair, and Bayside shopping center was having an event as well.

I was hoping that the weather would be a bit cooler as it had been this past week here in South Florida, but today was a normal Florida day, back in the high 80's. My plans to go for a fall look didn't work out, but at least it was cool enough to wear jeans without them melting onto my legs as soon as I exit the car.

My husband and our son came along. We had a nice family day exploring the Book Fair, meeting authors, and choosing books to fall in love with. I want to instill a love for reading in my son that will last a lifetime. I know how important and resourceful reading is, and I want my son to know that reading is something that should be done whether it is required for school or just for fun. Reading is a gateway to information, magic, and wonder. I can't think of a more relaxing way to spend my time than to be curled up with a book.
