Mid-January Portfolio

By Katrina - January 20, 2024

In the midst of a new year, I realized that my closet held untapped potential and hidden gems waiting to be rediscovered. Thus began my personal challenge to dress up more, explore the treasures within my wardrobe, and embrace the joy of dopamine dressing.

Dopamine dressing is more than just putting on clothes; it's a mindset that involves finding joy and satisfaction in the act of dressing up. Instead of succumbing to the allure of constant new purchases, I decided to create a collection of outfits using the clothes I already own. This not only promises to be a cost-effective approach but also serves as a remedy for the constant fear of missing out (FOMO) on the latest trends.

As the days of January unfolded, I committed myself to the challenge of curating unique and stylish outfits from my existing wardrobe. Halfway through the month, I can proudly say that this journey has been both rewarding and enlightening. This journey into dopamine dressing has not only transformed my wardrobe but also positively impacted my mindset and daily life.

I have not blogged about all of these looks yet, but I do intend to. I will post about them with details and professional photos, but keeping a portfolio with just mirror selfies is a nice way for me to make sure I like my outfit and how it looks on camera before stepping out of my dressing room.

Here are some benefits:

  • Financial Savings: By avoiding the constant urge to buy new clothes, I've noticed a significant saving in my budget. Rediscovering and reimagining what I already have is a sustainable and economical approach to fashion.
  • Reduced FOMO: The fear of missing out on the latest trends has diminished. I've come to appreciate the uniqueness of my style, unaffected by the transient nature of fashion trends.
  • Boost in Creativity: Crafting outfits from existing pieces has sparked my creativity. It's not just about the clothes; it's about the stories and memories associated with each item.

As I continue this journey into dopamine dressing, I invite others to join in. It's a celebration of personal style, a conscious effort to cherish what we already possess, and a step towards sustainable fashion practices. January may be halfway through, but the adventure into my closet is far from over. Here's to rediscovery, creativity, and the joy of dressing up!

with love,

Katrina
